Dr. Redding, Superintendent of GASD writes, "This first week of February is National School Counseling Week and provides an ideal time to acknowledge the impact school counselors have in helping students achieve success and planning for a career. Our District is extremely fortunate to have full-time school counselors in each elementary school building and multiple counselors in our middle school and high school.
Comprehensive school counseling programs are a vital part of the educational process for all students. School counselors work with all students to remove barriers to learning by addressing students’ academic concerns, career awareness in post- secondary options and personal/social skills. School counseling programs help to increase student achievement and provide a much-needed resource for students, parents, teachers and administrators."
